Walgreens is committed to employing more people with disabilities.
Building on the success and lessons learned from the Transitional Workgroup Program to employ more people with disabilities in our distribution centers, our commitment now extends to help people with disabilities gain basic retail skills needed to be successful in our stores through the Retail Employees with Disabilities Initiative (REDI). Representatives of an agency must register that agency at the REDI portal of www.WalgreensREDI.com. Check this website often to find Walgreens retail outlets interested in hosting REDI training sessions and seek an approved agency partner to work with.
Once registration is complete, representatives of an agency can select sessions and submit proposals to manage those sessions. A proposal includes the agency name, the proposed end date for training, the name of the job coach(es) and the number of externs for the session. NOTE: an "extern" is the term for referring to a person going through REDI training and denotes that although the training occurs in Walgreens stores, the person is not paid by Walgreens for the duration of the training.
Follow these steps to actively participate in the REDI program:
1. When sessions are scheduled, any user of the REDI portal can view upcoming sessions. Additionally, each registered member of an agency will receive an email with information about future sessions being requested in their service area.
2. A registered representative of an agency can submit a proposal for any REDI session in their service area. To submit a proposal for a session: select the session, determine duration of training, and enter an end date for training. Information about the job coach and externs will be submitted after the proposal has been approved and the agency notified accordingly.
3. Although a representative of an agency can submit a proposal for a session without specifying the job coach or extern, the session cannot start until all prerequisites of the session are met, including:
(i)Job coaches being identified and having completed all registration requirements.
(ii)Externs being identified and having completed all registration requirements.
(iii)Agencies having completed all steps of registration including program requirement acknowledgements, uploading proof of insurance and taking Introduction to REDI training.
4. Representatives of agencies will be informed via e-mail of "pending tasks" that need to be completed and the associated timeframe for completion. These e-mails will continue to be sent until all tasks are completed.
5.If any components are not completed by session start date, the session will be canceled, allowing another agency to be selected.
